THE PRINCIPALITY OF ANDORRA
It is an area of 468 km2 around 70,000 inhabitants, this small country that is in the Pyrenees between France and Spain. It is a parliamentary co-principality, being its co-princes, the President of the French Republic and the Archbishop of La Seu d’Urgell.
It is divided into seven parishes, which Sant Julià de Lòria is the further south and Mediterranean climate makes border with Spain.
The official language is Catalan, but are widely used in Spanish and French, along with English which is used mainly in commercial and financial areas.
Traditional occupations, before the coming of tourism, were agriculture, especially tobacco and livestock, mostly cattle. Today, you can still find many good examples. The cows are a symbol of the country, as is reflected in the national shield.
Although there is a history of winemaking dating back to the SX, currently only small areas are devoted to it , although there are many efforts to recover.
